NEWS: Ernest C. Smith, Plankowner isn’t doing well according to his daughter; he’s 84 this month and would like to hear from crew members who remember him, he was a S/1C. Wanda Cushman can be reached at 540 582 2362 or wcushman@indianacres.org ---- give her a shout.

Otis Ted Holly, QM2, Korea is writing a book about his time in the navy and hopes to finish it by the end of the year and then publish it. Keep your eyes on the New York Times Best Seller list; since the Brush will be mentioned, it has to become a best seller.

Joyce Schuldes (wife of Dick) and her daughters will not be with us in Norfolk, they have a family wedding to attend on the 20th; they will certainly be missed but hope to catch up with us in Milwaukee.

Byron and Diane Graves, will not be able to attend this years reunion but they sent along their hellos and a donation for the reunion. I always enjoy having Byron around but I will really miss Diane…..smiles please.

PLEASE WRITE TO Earl Knutson, 45754 Timber Road, Vermillion, SD 57069; he’s 90 years old and some cards would help cheer him up according to Cliff Wentworth, so invest 42 cents and make an old shipmate feel better. Thanks.

When his health failed, he moved to Oklahoma to be near his daughter and granddaughter according to his wife Belva. He had a rare form of Pulmanary Fibrosis. He passed on April 18, 2008. "Don always enjoyed the newsletters". The ship sent a card.

Elmer Sawall, S/1C WWII, passed away on June 24 according to his wife Helen. She said he was in good health and died of a massive heart attack and this was very unexpected. "He always enjoyed the newsletters about the USS Brush". A card was sent from the ship.

Theron Max Allen, his daughter notified us, I didn’t even have him on the mailing list, he was aboard Sept 16, 1957 until Sept 15, 1959
